The Midlands u16 Girls Gaynor Cup Review in Brief

MSL 0-1 Galway Although we were disappointed to be beaten by Galway in our opening game it now doesn't look like too bad of a result. We went down by a single gaol to the runners up. We had a couple of chances in the game but could just not find the net

MSL 0-1 DonegalA tough opening day for the Midlands with two big teams in opposition. Our performance was much improved in our second game and we had Donegal on the back foot for long periods without really creating a goal scoring opportunity. However Donegal grabbed a late goal to steal the win

MSL 0-0 Clare Day two was a little better for our u16s with us taking a point against a tough Clare side. Our lack of goals was beginning to become a problem however we were now beginning to create some good chances.

MSL 3-1 Carlow Finally we hit the net in this one and with some fresh faces in from the start they really made a big difference. Great team performance with the reward at the end was a bonus.

MSL 3-2 WATERFORD PLATE SEMI FINALIt was a third place finish in our group which qualified us to a plate semi final against Waterford. This was our second game of the day and all our squad worked really hard. We went a goal down on two occasions in this one and the girls showed great character to grind out the win and reach the plate Final.

MSL 0-3 MAYO PLATE FINALCongratulations to Mayo on getting one over on us in the plate final. It was a physical game with plenty of commitment shown by both sides. Having being solid enough at the back early in the week, the pressure and tiredness showed in this one. However having had a number of good chances ourselves including a missed penalty and a second definite penalty turned down this could have being much different if lady luck was on our side.
